That pretty much tells you who supports the jams and those who only wants you to support their causes. But not yours.
Mostly a 35 minute set of self indulgence, including Wang Dang Doodle which somehow never took off the way that I wanted to.
Another poor showing at the bar. No matter how much we try to promote the gig, nobody shows.
Disappointing.
For the most part, Jules backed me up on harmonica and light percussion and did some backing vocal to Behind Blue Eyes, but I do admit the Wang Dang Doodle song was heavy handed and a bit over the top. And then my wandered all over the place on Send Me Somebody To Love.
I like to think the weather played a role in some of the people not coming. Brian Bries thought about coming but the weather held him back. Plus Kris wasn't that interested. And I wasn't playing drums likewise. We had ongoing storms in the area but thankfully the heavy storms stayed south and east of here. But I think the Checkers' owners are thinking of pulling the plug since there hasn't been much of anybody showing up. The surprise was seeing Quentin Duarte make a very rare appearance. Which really accounts for something. And it made Julie happy to see him. As for me, I hoped that I did helped with the jam and the songs played. We have a way to go to get back to what we used to have.
With this open mic, this concludes the August portion of the week night jams, tho I fear come September, there will be few and far between jams and open mics. I haven't much satisfaction with the music that I have been playing and this performance there were too many off chords which made Behind Blue Eyes a bit more extended. But if nothing else, Julie got show her harmonica skills.
Freddy Jones played earlier at the Sanctuary with Bryce Janey and Sir Bob Miller. And still managed to join Julie, Dave and Rick for the last few songs. He's a real trooper and supporter of the jams.
Next Thursday: Terry McDowell takes a crack at getting people in to jam.
