It was my first time coming to Whiskey Jo's. An interesting blend of folks there, Greg Nost, DJ, Joe Mullenix, Cathy Coyle and Anita Skelton were there from the Rumors crowd, Phil Bo, Freddy Jones and Phil's wife from the local area and of course, David Kirzan and Kat Blue. Once again, my thinking is not there, I think I played more than six songs but I gather they were quite long with plenty of jams. It was the first time I jammed with Mark Awad since March of 2020. I don't think he remembered me.
Sweet Home was slowed down from the usual fast pace beat. I don't know if Tommy is winding down and playing slower or I'm not aware I'm playing that fast. I guess playing slower enables me to do a bit more drum fills but since I have been dealing with ear pain and hearing loss, I stayed more to the beat. And it kinda looks that way from here on out in this life.
In true Billy Bourbon fashion we concluded with two different endings of Midnight Special to end things. Tom Berdo blew out his harp speaker on Gold Dust Woman. Rocky came up next to help out on Kansas City. I heard that the crowd was on the small side but we had more jammers than we did on Sunday.
With spring processing over, I can get back into playing at the open mics and jams once again. At least till October.
